can use the certificate as proof of sufficient language skills for the purpose of naturalisation in Germany.
We recommend sitting the exam upon completion of an integration course. Our integration courses are designed to prepare for this exam.
These are the requirements for participation in the exam:
- Knowledge of the Latin alphabet
- Minimum age of 16 years
- Valid entitlement or obligation to participate in an integration course
or
- Previous participation in at least one segment of an integration course (without entitlement to participation, as a self-payer)
As a DTZ examination centre, Sprachenakademie offers the exam on a regular basis. You can register in person at our examination centre during the specified registration period. If you are not attending an integration course at Sprachenakademie, we require your original proof of entitlement or a certificate of attendance of an integration course at another course provider as well as a valid identification document for your registration. The examination fee amounts to €130 (registration fee of €30 included).
Persons who have not participated in an integration course cannot take part in the DTZ. We recommend the examination formats telc Deutsch A2-B1 or telc Deutsch B1 to interested persons who do not meet the participation requirements for the DTZ, but would like to provide proof of A2 or B1About proficiency levels:

EXAM FORMAT AND GRADING
The DTZ exam consists of a written section and an oral section. The written section is 100 minutes in duration and contains listening comprehension, reading, and written expression tasks. The oral exam is 16 minutes long; there will not be an extra preparation period.
The two examination sections take place on two subsequent days (Friday and Saturday).

The exam is corrected centrally by g.a.s.t. within 3–4 weeks. The certificates are then made available digitally in the DTZ participant portal and can be downloaded and printed out.
