Sprachenakademie’s integration centre is a point of contact for people who have immigrated to Germany, have varying backgrounds and have different personal goals. By integration, we mean cooperation between local people and those who have immigrated here with the collective goal of working towards full and fair participation for all – in all areas of life. We strive for an intercultural experience in which education plays a vital role. We support:

Cooperation between and networking among private initiatives at local level is crucial for success in the area of integration. To this end we are part of the integration network of the greater Aachen region.
Since 1st January 2005 the Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge – BAMF (Federal Office for Migration and Refugees) has provided funding for certain types of integration courses. These courses are aimed at new immigrants or immigrants who have lived in Germany for some time and have a long-term residence permit, but whose German language skills still need improvement. The immigration office or job centre may make it obligatory for these individuals to enrol in an integration course, or these individuals may register for an integration course independently and apply for financial support from the BAMF office in the city of Cologne. Registered refugees from countries of origin with good prospects of staying also have a right to visit an integration course. Our team for German course consultation will gladly assist you in applying for either full or partial financial support for participation in these courses.
Our integration courses consist of a language course and a follow-up orientation course in which knowledge of the German legal system, history and culture is imparted. Successful completion of these courses includes taking a final test as part of the orientation course (Leben in Deutschland – Living in Germany) as well as the German language test Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer (DTZ). Candidates who have successfully completed both components will receive an official BAMF certificate. This certificate will allow them to apply for German citizenship after 7 (instead of 8) years of residence in Germany.
Each 45-minute class hour costs €2.29 for learners who have secured partial funding from BAMF. Depending on the person’s individual case, full financial support may be possible. The final tests are free of charge.
An integration course usually comprises a total of 700 45-minute class hours. These 700 class hours are subdivided into 6 language modules and one orientation course (of 100 class hours each). Depending on the learner’s individual skills, progress and needs, other courses may be better suited to them than this foundation course. We offer different course types at varying paces based on the learner’s needs:
